October 1, 2017
Palazzo dei Giureconsulti, Milan, Italy
PRIX ITALIA 2017 WINNER : A LARGE STONE (SBC/RTS, Serbia) Direction and Music: Ivana Stefanović - Production: Vesna Perić, Predrag Stamenković - Sound: Zoran Uzelac - Actors: Ana Sofrenović, Slobodan Beštić.

The Jury: Adrian Korol (RTA-RAE, Argentina), Adriana Kramaric (HRT, Croatia), Josef Trestik (CZCR, Czech Republic), Bruno Berenguer (Radio France, France), Olga Buckley (RTÉ, Ireland), Joanna Grotkowska (PR, Poland), Michael Schuler (SRG SSR, Switzerland), Martin Smith (BBC, United Kingdom). The President: Adrian Korol (RTA-RAE, Argentina)

Motivations: We would like to award the prize to the Serbian entry, “A Large Stone”. We would also like to say thank you for the excellent English translation which was supplied. The programme was ambitious, taking on a serious and contemporary subject. The text was beautifully written for the radio medium, and skilfully performed. The music was an intrinsic part of the whole. At one point in the programme the text says “all I want is for you to listen”. We listened, and felt the resonance of the programme in ourselves. In the final discussion, what united the jury was our desire to reward the creative and innovative endeavour of the artist in radio.

True, not true, true... Krleža dreams* (based on the Miroslav Krleža book Diary 1942-1943)
Participants: Actor Miki Manojlović. Musicians: Ivana Stefanović and Dragan Mitrić. Elektronski instrumenti, vokoder, programiranje zvuka: Dragan Mitrić.
Sound engineer: Zoran Jerković.
Duration: 24.55 min
Production May 2012

* Miroslav Krleža first crossed the Danube to come to Belgrade in May 1912. More than a hundred years have passed since then. Like many before him, Krleža saw Belgrade as a big, attractive city, with a soul of its own. Krleža's visit to Belgrade would have been an event of no importance if it hadn't entailed a certain meeting of souls which he simply referred to as "a dream of the opposite shore".
Miroslav Krleža had the habit of writing down his dreams. He published them in his diaries dating from 1942 and 1943. At times he would separate his dreams out clearly from his other diary entries, but at other times he would mix them up, blurring the line between dream and reality. In his dreams he often "saw" Belgrade -- he would mention names of places, people he met, restaurants he'd been to... This aspect of his texts allowed the author of this piece to see Krleža not as a literary, political, ideological, or intellectual being, an erudite, a person holding power -- but as a dreamer, a sleeper.
Texts taken from Krleža's dreams are narrated by the actor Predrag Miki Manojlović. The piece, at its very end, also uses an archived recording of Krleža's own voice. The musical voice, just like the music itself, was processed by Dragan Mitrić.
